ILLAWARRA -- NEWCASTLE TRI-ENNIAL CLASH

The Illawarra District travelled to Nelson Bay on the weekend for their tri-ennial match against Newcastle. We had a good mix of experienced players and newcomers to our squad, however the better Newcastle team and the weather gave us a beating.
Even though we were beaten with an overall score of 20.5 to 9.5, our players gave their all in trying conditions, especially on Sunday when the rain just did not let up at all. I even got a few drops on me even though I was in a cart trying to keep dry.
May I say that we had a great team, both on and off the course. Everyone tried their hardest and were magnanimous in their losses and wins, even though how one player won "boggles" the mind. (That was supposed to be a joke). The official were very pleased to have travelled with a team that got on so well together. Thank you all again, gentlemen.
